The Frederick Municipal Watershed is “over 7,000 acres of forest land in western Frederick County” just off Route 15. Commonly named the “shed”, this lush forest offers many options when it comes to activities, there are an abundance of hiking trails, biking trails, and even rock climbing. It also has beautiful man-made lakes that are stocked yearly with fish for recreational fishing.
Every year Frederick city holds a traditional German festival called “Oktoberfest,” this year it takes place on October 19 and 20 at Schifferstadt. Schifferstadt is a historic Frederick landmark located on Rosemont Avenue that was originally built in 1758. Oktoberfest does not cost anything to enter and opens you up to an abundance of entertainment. Enjoy traditional German food and drinks while also listening to live music, or even take a tour of the historic site. Oktoberfest is Schifferstadt’s biggest event of the year and will not disappoint you, on top of everything mentioned an artisanal market is held on the grounds with many vendors and a variety of goods.
