With the school year underway, Senior Class President Zaina Hassen-Friess has many plans for the class of 2025. Being president for three years, Zaina has led her class through successful pep rallies, homecoming events, and fundraisers.
Initially, Zaina considered running to follow in the footsteps of her sister, Aleena Hassen-Friess (former class president). Through this, she discovered her own natural leadership skills. Looking back, she considers her junior year a success, particularly for uniting the class and winning a pep rally.
However, leadership comes with its challenges. Zaina admits, “Delegating things to different people rather than just taking all of it and doing it all myself” has been one of the hardest parts of being president. She has found learning to trust others to get the job done is one of the most challenging parts of being a leader.
Looking ahead, Zaina is excited for the upcoming senior class activities. Especially, “sweeping the pep rally.” She also looks forward to other class-run events such as a flag football tournament, senior sunrise, and safe and sane. Currently, the senior class is working on some larger projects for homecoming week. Things like hallway decorating, the duct tape dress, and the senior assembly are already underway.
When asked about her thoughts on her class, Zaina said, “Our class is one of the best classes. Everyone is interested in different things and there are a wide variety of people that want to help out.” With Zaina as president, the future looks bright for the class of 2025!
