The Frederick High School Theater performed “Murder Box” on November 8th and 9th at Frederick High School. The cast gave a preview during school on the 7th, only showing the first act and letting students know they could see the rest during the official showtimes.
English teacher, Ms. Scott, attended the Friday showing. She said Maggie, played by Abby Mongan, was her favorite character. Saying, “I thought she was the most expressive. But a close second, because they were super entertaining ,were Lewis and Binky.” Maggie is the main character who watches the events of the first act, while Lewis and Binky serve as comedic relief. Scott said her favorite part of the show was, “Probably the first death. It was shocking, a little unexpected, and well done.”
Cast member, Jaden Ford, playing a doctor, called the play a success. His favorite showing was Saturday night, saying, “It went very well.” He also said the first act went better than the second, “We were having trouble with the second act.” After an accident prevented Brett Templeton, the director, from attending school, “We couldn’t practice for three days, so that kind of messed up the schedule.” In all, Ford’s favorite part of the production was, “meeting the people.” Overall, the fall play was a success, despite some production obstacles.
