School just started. What am I going to wear?
There are many different kinds of clothing trends and methods going viral on social media. There’s the sandwich method which is when the top of your outfit matches with the bottom of your outfit. For example, the top and the shoes would be the same color and the pants would be a different color to be used as the accent clothing piece. The point of this method is to equally balance your outfit and match it with the rest of your outfit.
Starting with some options for a casual fit. For girls, you could wear baggy low rise jeans with a fitted t-shirt. For boys, you could wear baggy wide legged jeans with a classic round neck t-shirt. The shoes would match your shirt to complete the sandwich method. Shopping at places like H&M and Hollister are perfect for these kinds of outfits. Another clothing trend is oversized/ baggy pants, paired with a cropped or fitted top. For boys you could pair the pants with a classic t-shirt or an oversized hoodie. There’s a variety of oversized pants options. Cargo pants and wide legged baggy jeans are popular. The point of this method is to add shape to the outfit. Wearing a fitted top with it also creates a good contrast between tight and baggy.
I was given the chance to interview Frederick High School Sophomore Jason Kapombe to get his perspective on his personal preferences of an outfit that he would wear to school.
Q: What is a personal favorite outfit you would wear to school?
A: “Sweatpants and a hoodie.”

Another clothing trend is Athleisure. Athleisure is sportswear that is effortlessly fashionable. Athletic leggings with crew nike socks put over the ankles of your leggings and a hoodie or zip up would make a great example of Athleisure. Shopping at places like Dicks Sporting Goods and Sierra are perfect for these kinds of outfits. On the more expensive side, you could also wear streetwear fashion. Streetwear clothing is hip hop style fashion. Oversized hoodies, graphic artworks, and big logos are examples of streetwear fashion. Some popular brands that match under this category are Sp5der, A Bathing Ape (Bape), Fear of God (Essentials), and Supreme. These brands range from prices of $100 – $1000.
When it comes to a good outfit for school, it doesn’t have to be high in cost. You can go thrifting at places like Goodwill to find clothing pieces in high value for a low cost. Have fun creating your outfit!
