I’m sure you have heard of clothing brands like Hollister and Pacsun. They provide a variety of different types of casual clothing. But have you heard of Hype Wrld? Hype Wrld is a unique clothing brand designed in February 2023 to spread a positive message. This business is run by Gabe Campbell, a 16 year old teenager at Frederick High School.
Many clothing brands sell similar products that don’t have any meaning. However Hype Wrld spreads positive messages through their clothing brand to encourage others. Hype Wrld symbolizes confidence and makes people feel better or more “hype” about themselves by spreading the message “Hype Wrld” across the front of the clothing. It’s there to spread a constant reminder to feel better about yourself.
Other than his hoodies, his brand also sells a variety of different clothing such as t-shirts, sweatpants, clothing sets, and beanies. On holidays he provides special edition clothing pieces that are only available during a certain time frame.
I was given the opportunity to interview Campbell and get his perspective on his business.
Q: What is the message your brand is displaying?
A: “The brand is meant to help people be more confident.”
Q: What was your motivation/ inspiration to create your own clothing brand?
A: “When I was younger I was really shy and introverted. There were certain things that acted as a reminder to me to be more confident and that’s what the brand is meant to be for other people.”
Q: What advice would you give someone who is just starting a business?
A: “Don’t give up.”
Campbell is working on creating other clothing wear such as zip up hoodies and he’s working on developing his website as well. So I would definitely check that out!
