On September 16th 2024, YouTube sensations Jimmy Donaldson (Mr. Beast), Logan Paul, and JJ Olatunji (KSI) announced that they were going to be collaborating to release a “groundbreaking new better-for-you lunch option” known as Lunchly. This meal is intended to be a competitor for Lunchables, and it contains a very similar format.
The meal packages consists of one bottle of Prime Hydration, a wildly successful sports drink that was also released recently by Paul and Olatunji, one Feastables bar, a form of Chocolate released recently by Mr. Beast, and one of three processed food options including pizza, nachos or turkey and cheese with crackers.
Lunchly claims to be healthier due to the fact that Prime contains 400 milligrams of electrolytes as opposed to a Capri Sun which only contains 55 milligrams. Another reason they’ve made this statement is because a Feastables bar contains less sugar than a Crunch or Kit Kat bar which are usually contained in a regular Lunchable.
However, there are very obvious risks contained by processed foods. According to a study from the BMJ Journal, those who ate high amounts of processed foods had a 9% increased risk of their fatality coming from a neuro-generative cause. Another study from the European Journal of Nutrition found that people who ate 10% more processed foods than others were at a 23% higher risk of head and neck cancer. On top of this, Lunchly contains more sodium than Lunchable kits.
With all of this information being considered, parents should be very attentive when looking at Lunchly’s nutritional facts before purchasing it for their children.
