Last year was an astonishing season for the Cadets, with a record of 24-4 and winning the 4A Maryland State Championship. The Cadets were able to bounce back after a troubling start in the beginning of January with three losses in a row, two losses on the road and one loss at home. With senior stars last year including Elwyne Wordlaw, Max McFarland, David Dorsey, Gavin Legge, and Ivan Quijada, are the Frederick High Cadets going to be able to bounce back with the upcoming 24/25 season with these losses?
JJ Addison played a big crucial role in last year’s Cadets triumph. Addison was able to dominate against the Cadets rivals, Thomas Johnson’s Patriots, and also in the Maryland 4A State Championship game against the Walt Whitman Vikings. Averaged 12.5 points per game and scored a big 21 points against TJ’s Patriots in the Regional Playoffs. Emonte Hill Jr also played a big role last year by averaging four assists per game and being eighth overall in assists in the 4A Division.
The Frederick High Cadets have definitely lost some of their stars. However, with players returning like JJ Addison and Emonte Hill Jr, will they possibly step up in leadership roles for the Cadets after crucial minutes in important playoff games such as the Regional Final, and State Championship games? Will the Cadets be able to go back to back State Championships?
